Chrissandra is a Nanaimo based counsellor and expressive arts therapist who provides a safe space for youth and adults who are experiencing a transitional time in life and a desire for change. She works with a variety of people suffering with anxiety, depression, learning challenges and living in recovery from addiction and traumatic brain injury.
We have all suffered trauma - it is the journey of growing up and being human. Allowing the stuck trauma to move through the body, tuning the body back into energetic harmony and gaining back our personal power is something that can be achieved.
Before embarking on her Masters degree in Expressive Arts Therapy and Psychology from the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, Chrissandra taught piano for 20 years and is a professional artist who has exhibited in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. She has a creative approach to verbal and non-verbal therapies including music, sound therapies, drawing, writing and gentle movement to guide the client’s journey in becoming the hero/heroine of their own story.
Chrissandra has experience working with tweens, adults as well as First Responders and Veterans. Transitions are challenging, and she is here to help bridge these liminal spaces in life through employing our innate wisdom and the power of the arts.
Through the processes of art-making, sound resonance and entrainment, we are able to find resources inside ourselves that have lain dormant as unwatered seeds. Chrissandra uses the practice of mindfulness meditation and the medicine of sound and the arts to water and shine light on the seed inside our selves so that the seed can grow and flower. She offers compassionate one-on-one verbal therapy and deep listening in person or via Telehealth, as well as facilitates group workshops for community connection.
